Responsible Care® is an initiative voluntarily undertaken by many chemical companies worldwide to address public concerns about the manufacture, distribution and use of chemicals. Specific elements vary among the national chemical industry associations, but all have the common theme of making progress toward the vision of no accidents, injuries or harm to the environment - Responsible Care® is good chemistry at work.
The FMC Worldwide Policy on Health, Safety, Security and the Environment (HSSE) and the accompanying Standards incorporate Responsible Care's® Guiding Principles to define FMC's commitment and expectations for all FMC employees. To ensure full understanding and support, FMC has translated the Policy and Standards into the 10 native languages of our global employee base. We at FMC encourage our commericial partners to practice the principles of Responsible Care®. Customers wanting more information about the ACC Responsible Care Program or about FMC's Responsible Care activities or performance can find links to that information on this website. This website provides important information to help all FMC employees contribute to successful implementation of Responsible Care® and FMC's goal of continuous improvement. Since its inception in 1988, Responsible Care® has featured Codes of Management Practices to help member companies improve their performance in the key functional areas of Community Awareness & Emergency Response (CAER), Pollution Prevention, Employee Health & Safety, Process Safety, Distribution, Product Stewardship and Security.
FMC and other ACC member companies have built successful programs in all these functional areas. The new Responsible Care® program recently introduced by ACC incorporates all these functional areas in a management systems framework using a Policy-Plan-Do-Check-Act model to help drive further continuous improvements in performance. Responsible Care®, Responsible Care Management System®, and RCMS® are registered service marks of the American Chemistry Council. |
