On September 16, FMC Stine Research Center hosted U.S. Senator Chris Coons, who represents the state of Delaware, where Stine is located.
As a former intellectual property (IP) attorney for W.L. Gore & Associates, one of the 200 largest privately held manufacturing companies in the United States, Senator Coons shares a desire for innovation and preserving intellectual property. During his visit to Stine, the Senator emphasized the need to support innovation with strong IP laws that encourage and reward research and development. "It excites me to represent a community of people who want to innovate,” Coons said.

Coons met with the Stine leadership team, who updated him on the site, the investments FMC has made since it announced plans to invest $50 million over three years, and the company's impact on the Delaware community. After meeting with site leadership, Coons held a Town Hall with about 60 attendees. The Senator took questions from participants, ranging from climate change to trade policy and pesticide restrictions. He wrapped up the visit by thanking employees and saying, "I believe in science, and there is a hungry world out there that you are helping to feed.”
