Board of Directors Sustainability Committee
FMC’s Board of Director’s Sustainability Committee is tasked with overseeing and evaluating the effectiveness of FMC’s sustainability strategy to ensure it continues to create value and deliver real impact for the company and society. The Committee reviews and provides guidance to management on FMC’s sustainability initiatives in alignment with the company’s sustainability pillars of protection, innovation, and engagement, which includes matters such as climate change and biodiversity. The Committee meets at least three times a year.
Executive Oversight
FMC’s Chief Sustainability Officer (CSO) is a member of FMC’s executive leadership team and has the overall responsibility of leading and managing sustainability-related programs throughout the corporation, reporting directly to the CEO. The CSO communicates directly with the Board of Directors’ Sustainability Committee on sustainability matters at a minimum three times a year. Additionally, FMC has committees that are tasked with the oversight and implementation of FMC’s efforts to reach the company’s environmental goals and external sustainability reporting requirements, including our Climate Transition Plan. Coordinated by members of FMC’s corporate sustainability team, cross-functional teams and leaders provide insight and collaborate to promote the integration of sustainability across the company. Additional members of FMC’s executive leadership team are regularly informed and educated on sustainability matters as relevant to the business and provide guidance in their respective subject matter areas.
External Sustainability Advisory Council
FMC’s External Sustainability Advisory Council, initiated in November 2017, provides perspectives and objectivity to our sustainability strategy. Members of the Council are leaders in agriculture, energy, water, and environmental issues. Council meetings are usually held twice a year and may focus on topics such as FMC’s sustainability goals, materiality, issues management strategy, product stewardship, and stakeholder engagement.
