FMC Celebrates International Women’s Day, Reaffirms Commitment to Gender Balanced Organization by 2027

Today FMC joins millions around the world in celebrating the remarkable achievements of women and taking action for equality. Accelerating gender equity across the organization has been a core focus of its diversity and inclusion strategy as the company aspires to achieve a 50/50 gender balance across all regions and job levels by 2027. Women account for 30% of the global workforce today.

"We have made strong progress on hiring, developing and promoting women in our workforce – but we are not where we want to be," commented Mark Douglas, president and chief executive officer. "FMC has been a champion of International Women's Day for many years and this is the perfect time to recommit ourselves to our gender equity goals.”

FMC has had a longstanding commitment to diversity and inclusion and is further strengthening its workforce diversity efforts in other areas as well. The company strives to increase the proportion of Black/African American employees in the U.S. from 8.6% to 14% by 2027 to reflect the national census. This is a starting point that reflects the company's commitment to social justice and race equity, however efforts will be expanded to other underrepresented groups both in the U.S. and globally as progress is made. Progress toward FMC's diversity goals will be reported annually.

Dr. Karen Totland, FMC's chief sustainability officer, added, "As we look to the future, we believe we have a role to play in creating greater fairness, equity, and opportunity in our workplace, in the communities where we operate, and in the broader society. And this starts with our own workforce and increasing representation of people from historically underserved, underrepresented, and marginalized groups. Both the gender and race equity goals are designed to help us build toward a company that truly reflects the world around us.”

FMC strongly believes in the value diversity and inclusion brings to the organization, its employees and stakeholders around the world and will continue to advocate for the interests of people from all backgrounds, nationalities, race/ethnicity, gender, sexual orientation, gender identity, disabilities, professional capabilities and other diversity dimensions.
