For more than 70 years, FMC Corporation has been a proud part of the Middleport and Eastern Niagara County communities. The FMC Middleport plant supports growers around the world by formulating a range of products that help protect more than 100 crops in over 75 countries.
Originally established on a former orchard and operated by the Niagara Sprayer Company, the plant came under full FMC ownership in 1946. While Active Ingredient manufacturing activities ended in 1985, the facility continues to focus on safe, reliable formulation and packaging operations.
Safety and sustainability are core values at FMC. As an active participant in the American Chemistry Council’s (ACC) Responsible Care® program, FMC Middleport is committed to continuously improving employee and environmental health and safety, product stewardship and community engagement.

FMC Middleport and Parsons Employees Donate Food and Funds for Middleport Food Pantry
FMC's Agricultural Sciences Plant employees in Middleport, working with Local 1180 of the International Association of Machinists and Aerospace Workers and plant management, as well as employees of Parsons Corporation, recently collected and shared non-perishable food and cash donations to benefit the Middleport Food Pantry, which provides local residents in need with access to food items at no cost. The Middleport Food Pantry, located in The Hub community center at 27 State St, is open to area residents every Thursday from 10 a.m. to 11:30 a.m.
FMC Middleport Holds Safety Day for Plant Employees With Area First Responders
FMC Corporation's Agricultural Sciences Plant in Middleport held its annual Safety Day for plant employees with area first responders, featuring presentations and demonstrations focused on community, home and work safety. Among the Safety Day event participants were first responders including the Middleport Fire Department, Middleport Police Department and Niagara County Sheriff’s Office, as well as companies that provide products and services that support FMC’s safety protocols including Dival, MSA, Metro Environmental, Cintas and Parsons. As part of Safety Day, the FMC Middleport plant was proud to make donations to both the Middleport Frie Department and the Middleport Police Department.
Congresswoman C. Tenney Visits FMC Middleport Plant
Congresswoman Claudia Tenney (NY-24) visited the FMC Corporation’s Agricultural Sciences plant in Middleport. She met with members of the plant’s leadership team, toured the facility and spoke to the FMC Middleport plant’s employees who had gathered to spend some time with her.“It was a pleasure to visit FMC’s Middleport facility and meet with the dedicated team working here in Eastern Niagara County," said Congresswoman Tenney. “FMC is a leader in agricultural innovation with deep roots in New York’s economy and community. Their commitment to advancing new technologies for farmers, maintaining environmental stewardship, and supporting local jobs makes them an invaluable partner in our region. Environmental Stewardship and Remediation
FMC has been actively addressing historical arsenic impacts from former operations since the early 1970s. Working closely with the New York State Department of Environmental Conservation (NYSDEC), the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (USEPA), local officials and community groups, FMC has carried out extensive studies and cleanup actions on and around the site. A 2004 independent biomonitoring study involving 439 residents found no evidence of elevated exposure to arsenic from soil, with results falling below CDC reference levels.
A 2019 Order on Consent with NYSDEC and USEPA provides the current framework for completing all remaining onsite and offsite remediation activities. To date, FMC has invested more than $200 million in soil and groundwater cleanup efforts across the Village of Middleport, including work at residential areas, school district property and other impacted sites.
Cleanup work is ongoing across 11 defined Operable Units (OUs), with continued operation, monitoring and maintenance of interim corrective measures previously put in place.
